Bettors Not Seeing Much Fluctuation In Super Bowl Line

Bettors have become creatures of habit when it comes to gambling on the Super Bowl. The sharp bettors like to get their money into the Las Vegas sports books shortly after the AFC and NFC championship games are over. After that, the general public takes a stab at picking the winner correctly.

This year's game, however, between the New York Giants and New England Patriots, has been one in which the betting line has not moved much since the opening line was released. The Patriots came out as three point favorites, and outside of the line moving a couple times to 2.5, it has remained at three.

The reason for that can be explained by gamblers themselves, who cannot seem to make up their mind on which team will win, or even which team should be favored.

"I can't believe the Patriots are favored in this game," said Mark Blumsfield, shortly before placing a $100 bet on the Giants in Las Vegas. "The Giants already beat them this year, they beat them a couple of years ago in the Super Bowl with mainly the same players, and they have been playing better of late. I think this is going to be easy money."

Not all bettors agree with Blumsfield's prognostication of the big game. in fact, one gambler believes the Patriots will have an easy time with the Giants.

"There is no way Tom Brady is going to lose to the Giants twice in the Super Bowl," said Leo Hurns. "This is possibly the best quarterback of all-time. I think the Pats are going to win this one in a blowout, maybe 35-13."

The two teams both have star power at the quarterback position, with Eli Manning matching Brady in these playoffs. The difference in the game that most analysts have pointed out is the Giants defense appearing to be playing better than New England's.

Brady may be without one of his top targets in tight end Rob Gronkowski. The record-setting tight end injured his leg in the AFC championship game, and has not practiced with the team up until Thursday. After the workout Thursday, Gronkowski said himself and team doctors would make the final determination as to whether he suits up to play on Sunday.
